Roses are Red

The closest I can come to wearing actual roses would be through this lovely deep red necklace. I bought these beads at a jewelry show a few months ago. Being faceted glass beads, these range from a bright red to the deep dark red that can be seen in the pictures here. The stark contrast between the red and the golden color emphasis the beauty of these beads.

Dangling drop earrings are perfect with this necklace. The absence of gold beads in these makes the necklace a focal point.

Golden Filigree on a White Canvas

Many a time I pick up beads and pieces that I fall in love with but it may take a while before I can find the perfect way to use them. I bought some gold plated filigree beads on a trip almost six years ago. I was finally able to use them in a piece which does them justice.

I wanted to highlight the filigree work with this piece and found these perfectly round smooth white stones to create the background, making the gold beads the focal point. Alternating are small golden beads which tie in all the components together.

Dangling earrings complement the necklace.

Coral Gold!

I have always been very creative and like to make things. When I was a kid, I used to watch various craft shows or read craft books and then rush to the store to buy supplies. For the next few hours I would be immersed in my task and used to be so happy to see the final product. The closer it looked to the one displayed on TV or in the book, the happier I was. The best thing was that my parents always encouraged me.

I also love jewelery. My friend used to compare me to a crow; "If its shiny and a piece of jewelery, you will definitely take a look at it" she said. And its not the gold, silver or diamonds that excite me (that definitely makes my husband happy). What I like most is to wear jewelery which matches my outfit. Accessorizing for me means finding the right earrings or the perfect bracelet.

So a few years ago when I was taking a couple of months vacation, it just made sense to start making jewelery. One and one makes two right?!
Well the initial few projects were tedious, and perhaps not the most professional of finishes but now I am at the point where I am comfortable enough to take photos of the final product. My husband is as encouraging as my parents are and I must acknowledge the fact that he is the one who takes painstaking effort to click the photo to display my creations in the perfect light!

I made this for my sister-in-law. Hope she enjoys wearing it! And I hope you like the pictures.
